Road Trip Fuel Calculator
Build a route or enter a distance to estimate fuel use, fuel cost and each traveller's share.
Plan your routeHow fuel use and cost are calculated
With kilometres and litres per 100 km, fuel used = distance × consumption ÷ 100. Multiply the litres by your price per litre to estimate fuel cost. Miles-per-gallon inputs use US gallons.
The total covers fuel only. Add tolls, parking and rental charges separately. Traffic, hills, speed and vehicle load can change consumption; use a recent figure for your own vehicle.
Questions
Fuel cost questions
How is fuel cost calculated?
For kilometres and litres per 100 km, fuel used is distance × consumption ÷ 100. Multiply litres by the price per litre for fuel cost. The calculator converts supported imperial inputs before applying the same calculation.
What does the total include?
The result covers estimated fuel, not the entire cost of driving. Add parking, tolls, rental charges and other costs separately. Traffic, speed, terrain and vehicle load can change actual consumption.
Can I split the fuel cost with other travellers?
Yes. Enter the number of travellers to divide the estimated fuel cost equally. This does not include each person’s other travel expenses.
