Which Country Is Bigger?

We compare total surface area in square kilometres, including inland water, using World Bank / FAO observations for 2023. Both countries always use the same definition. World Bank / FAO · CC BY 4.0.

Easy pairs differ by more than 60% of the larger value. Medium: 30–60%. Hard: 10–30%. Expert: up to 10%. Equal values are excluded. Outlines are fitted independently before your answer, so they do not reveal the actual size.

Correct answers earn 100 points. Answer in under two seconds for 50 bonus points, or under four for 25. Streaks of 3, 5 and 10 add 25, 50 and 100 points. There is no time limit. Survival moves up a difficulty every five rounds.

194 countries currently have eligible data. Normal play uses UN member and observer states with available observations; dependent territories are excluded. A small regional pool may need a different difficulty.

Flat maps stretch some parts of the world. Mercator maps especially exaggerate areas near the poles. Our comparison bars use the actual values on a linear scale.
