How the mobility score is calculated
MyTripTools Passport Mobility Score counts destinations with visa-free, visa-on-arrival or ETA access. Each contributes one point. eVisa and visa-required destinations contribute zero. ETA is kept separate and may require approval before travel.
Score = visa-free + visa on arrival + ETA
The universe contains active destinations with at least one published visa rule. Each passport's own country is excluded. Missing or unrecognized rules stay unknown; permits, conditional entry and other special arrangements remain separate and contribute zero.
Equal scores share a competition rank: 1, 2, 2, 4. Region filters change the passports shown, not their global scores or ranks. Scores use the current published dataset, not a competitor's ranking.
What changed from the previous score?
Version 2 replaces the former weighted score: visa on arrival and ETA now receive one point instead of 0.8; eVisa receives zero instead of 0.5. Home countries and unpublished rules no longer count. Ties depend only on the score. Rankings therefore cannot be directly compared with the previous version.
Data coverage and freshness matter. A score is a summary of recorded access, not a guarantee of admission. Check the official entry rules before travelling.

How is the mobility score calculated?
Each visa-free, visa-on-arrival or ETA destination contributes one point. eVisa, visa-required, conditional, permit and unknown destinations contribute no points. The home country is excluded. ETA may still require approval before travel.
Do equal scores share a rank?
Yes. Competition ranking means equal scores share a rank, and the next rank skips the tied positions: 1, 2, 2, 4. Alphabetical order only arranges passports within a tie.
Is this an official passport index?
This is the MyTripTools Passport Mobility Score, computed from our published visa dataset. It is not a government ranking. Missing data remains unknown, and a high score does not guarantee entry.
